Stop the Smoking

Most smokers started the habit when they were quite young, as a result of peer pressure and because they felt it was "cool" to start along with their friends.

Addiction to nicotine is something that needs to be eliminated for many reasons. Nicotine is referred to as both a stimulant and a depressant. It will increase the heart rate and, once the "high" is over, the body will be fatigued and become depressed.

Nicotine can be as addictive as cocaine or heroin and should be something a person should never even start. In spite of the long term affects of this habit, there is always a chance to "kick" it. One of the best reasons people come to the decision to quit smoking is because of heart disease, hardening of the arteries, yellowing of the teeth, and many others risks. It just takes a little bit of discipline and knowledge in order to get on a good plan to quit once and for all!

More reasons to quit the smoking habit are fear that you will become terribly sick and/or die from cancer; the fear that your lungs will be so damaged that you will never stop coughing; or the fear that you will never get rid of the smell of the smoke on your body.

Remember there is always hope to kick the habit. Sharing with others who are going through the same thing can also be helpful, and with patience and determination, you can be on your way to good health.
