The Perks of Drinking Coffee

Once thought to be hazardous to one’s health, America’s favorite morning beverage has recently made headlines in the news for some possible health benefits. These health benefits include cutting the risk of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, as well as improve liver function. Coffee also had, at one time, the stigma of causing dehydration, because it tends to make you urinate more frequently, which has now been proven false. As a matter of fact, studies have shown that coffee causes no more of a diuretic effect than water itself.  There are even healthier coffees in existence.  Organic and Fat-Burning coffees that are less acidic, low-glycemic and use AA Arabica beans can be found through the Enriched Coffee link on this blog or at http://theperfectconcept.igetpaidtodrinkcoffee.com/.  The coffee, tea and other products found here are an added boost to cutting the risk of diabetes.

In recent research, studies have shown that coffee is more beneficial than it is harmful. There have been at least six different studies that show that people who drink coffee regularly are up to 80 percent less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease. Three of those six studies showed that the more coffee one drank, the lower the risks became. There is other research that shows that if you drink at least two cups of coffee per day, you can have a 25 percent reduced risk of colon cancer as well as nearly 50 percent reduced risk of developing gallstones, which in turn, reduces the risk of developing gallbladder disease. Coffee can also protect your liver against cirrhosis, which causes progressive damage to the liver tissue and its function.

Aside from preventing all of these diseases, coffee provides you with antioxidants. Since antioxidants come from plants, as does coffee, you can get antioxidants from drinking coffee. Now you don’t want to depend on coffee as your soul source for antioxidants, but if you are a coffee drinker, that is just one of the many perks of enjoying your morning pick-me-up beverage.

Fast and Healthy Cooking

Just a little careful planning and you're on your way to cooking a fast and healthy meal for you or your family. What foods do you love? Talk to your loved ones and include their favorites in your menu preparation. Once you know the foods you all enjoy, then stock your fridge, freezer and pantry with staples. Make sure to include pastas, fruits, vegetables and meats according to those menus.

Foods can be quickly prepared with crock pots. Combine all ingredients, set the timer and the meal is cooking while you're getting other things done. Don't ignore the food processor. You can cut, chop, mix and save so much time. Take advantage of these options. All foods are chopped the same and will cook evenly. Kids love pizza as well as adults. Bagels can be used as the crust. You then top with sauce and your favorite cheese, meat and veggies. Each person can have make their own. Use chicken for another quick meal to make tacos or quesadillas. Have pasta on hand. What a quick and easy meal. Just boil the water. While that's heating stick some garlic bread in the oven. Toss your salad and another instant meal.

In our busy lives, sometimes grabbing fast foods seem to be the quick and easy answer. However, to stay healthy and bring the family together at the table, fast, healthy meals are vital. So, why not start now? Make a special night for each person. Get them involved and enjoy a good meal together.

Speedy and Healthy

When it comes to cooking most people don’t usually think of cooking healthy food as being an option when they are pressed for time. Fast food usually means throwing whatever food you can find together to make a meal or going through a drive-thru to pick up dinner. There are some things you can do to make cooking meals a fast and healthy experience.

The first thing you can do is invest in a crock pot. These little gizmos can allow you to take raw vegetables, either cut up or whole, some chicken breasts with a few seasonings and throw that in the crock pot with some low fat chicken broth and let it cook for a few hours on a low setting. You can go to work, go exercise or pick up the kids at school and come home to a fully cooked meal. All it costs you is the time to wash and cut up vegetables and throw it all in a crock pot. You can do this with homemade soups, stews, even casseroles. If you can spend 10 minutes preparing fresh vegetables you can make any meal that you can find in the freezer section.

Another thing you can do is simple substitutions. Instead of fried chicken, you can roll chicken breasts in crushed corn flakes and bake them. It won’t take you very long to fix and once the chicken breasts are in the oven, you can use that time to fix a salad or make a side dish. You can make a simple side dish by using canned vegetables and heating them up in the microwave. Not everything has to be gourmet, but you can make simple substitutions that will make your meals healthy without taking extra time or losing the taste factor.

Fast and Healthy Breakfast Ideas

With a little planning either the night before or getting up five to ten minutes earlier one can find time to eat breakfast. We've heard many times that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We've gone for ten or so hours without food and possibly without water. The blood sugar is low and there is probably little energy there. On top of that, it's time to get everyone else off to school and it's time for the head to get ready to head off to work.

By planning ahead, these insurmountable tasks will fall into line. Some ideas include making a breakfast casserole the night before. When you awaken, place it in the microwave and when you are dressed and the family is dressed the casserole will be ready to serve. Cold cereal boxes can be set on the table the night before along with sugar and the necessary dishes. This can be eaten while still in pajamas or right after one is dressed and before going out the door. A big batch of waffles can be made and frozen.

When ready to eat take out the required number of waffles and place them in the toaster. Scrambled eggs can be whipped up the night before and placed in a casserole or frying pan and kept refrigerated. When ready to eat breakfast the next morning they can be heated through and served. Water can be in a pan and several eggs laid out, all ready to boil eggs this next morning. By the time one is dressed the boiled eggs will be ready to serve.
